Bob Lee, creator of the popular mobile payment application - Cash App - and former CTO at Square, rebranded some time ago as Block, has died. The 43-year-old cryptocurrency enthusiast and an important figure in this sector of the economy was murdered on April 4.

On April 4, local time in San Francisco, Bob Lee died from multiple stab wounds. For some time, the entrepreneur was the chief technology officer at Square (now Block) founded by Jack Dorsey. He gained significant recognition in the cryptocurrency environment thanks to the creation of the Cash App payment application, which turned out to be a great success on the market in the United States, as well as in Canada.

Soon after, the sad news of the tragedy was also confirmed by Jack Dorsey, who announced on the decentralized social media platform - Nostr - that his former business companion was dead.
The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has published an information that describes the course of the incident in which Lee lost his life. Police officers received a report that a man had been found in a critical physical condition on the street overnight with multiple stab wounds.
- Officers provided first aid to the victim and called paramedics to the scene. The victim with life-threatening injuries was transported to a local hospital. Despite the great efforts of paramedics and medical staff, Lee died from his injuries, the statement said.
The authorities also announced that an investigation into the death of the entrepreneur had already been initiated. So far, no one has been arrested in connection with the brutal attack on the creator of the Cash App.
Before his death, Bob Lee had been the chief product officer at MobileCoin for two years. It is a project focused on its cryptocurrency, which is oriented to a high level of privacy. Joining the project at the December 2021 stage, a statement appeared in which Lee drew attention to a serious social problem.
– The traditional financial system excludes hundreds of millions of people around the world who do not have a bank account and condemns them to isolation from the financial system. As a consequence, these people are deprived of the benefits of access to the world of finance, Lee said at the time.
