Nigel Farage's take on Bitcoin
British politician speaks about cryptocurrencies
The cryptocurrency market is constantly growing, and this makes people from an increasing number of environments begin to take an interest in it. One of them is Nigel Farage - British journalist and former politician. Farage was in the recent past president of the Independence Party of Great Britain (UKIP).
Bitcoin is a 21st century rebellion
Nigel Farage, in his speech devoted to Bitcoin and the broadly understood cryptocurrency sector, compared the idea behind the first digital currency to the Brexit situation in terms of social opposition. The former politician said:
- Any new idea, no matter what it concerns, will automatically be opposed by the entire establishment, because these people are the rulers of the current status quo, they feel very comfortable and know that they are doing well, while not wanting anything new to appear and disturb their order .
Farage was asked what features he values most in BTC, the former politician replied:
- In the case of Bitcoin, it has been proven, firstly, that the technology behind it works and is getting better. The second significant advantage of the oldest cryptocurrency is that no government is able to come close to it to tell me what I can and cannot do with my BTC.
The former British politician believes that Bitcoin can bring "ultimate freedom" to society. Farage believes that if the cryptocurrency community is agile in the future and works wisely with regulators, it will eventually lead to a favorable and sane regulatory framework that will satisfy both parties. He also emphasizes the importance of lobbying and education on digital currencies. He also stated that many people, including lawmakers, still do not have adequate knowledge of this market, but only heard that Bitcoin can be something like the Ponzi scheme.
Farage recalled that he once "commanded a political uprising" as an opposition to the establishment, for which he was widely considered a madman. He allowed himself to compare his actions against some decisions of the European Union or military actions, such as the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the revolution of the Bitcoin community. In his opinion, both cases constitute a form of opposition to the system.
- I personally believe that what is happening with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies shows that we are dealing with a similar type of insurgency. This is a real economic revolution, and it is driven and led by people who are worried about the size and scale of undesirable actions by governments.
